Final ergonomic. A higher nose and 0.85 mm of comfort relief inside each temple.

Quest journal
  • Day one: I generated the first frame from a Python script, then squared the brow, rounded its ends, and flattened the inside.
  • Day two: I measured real lenses and rebuilt the frame around them, then chased an Italian crystal look and gave the lenses more room.
  • Day three: hinges. M1 retention held them in, and the temples became properly left- and right-handed.
  • Day four: comfort. Positive temple stops, a higher nose, and softer temples.
  • Day five: I split the print into two steps, temples first and front second, with cooling breaks in between.
  • Rev 22 fits. Probably.
  • Quest complete!

Known limits

  1. The higher nose and temple comfort changes from revs 18 and 19 are not physically verified yet. The lens and hinge system was.
  2. Every revision comes out of a Python build script, so changes are parameter edits, not redraws.
  3. Each release was checked for watertight meshes and zero part collisions before it went to the printer.
  4. Lenses press in with even pressure. If one binds, the fix is in the CAD, not in more force.
